The Washtenaw County Youth Center, a division of Washtenaw County Children's Services, is responsible for providing temporary custody and care for juveniles in a safe and secure setting. Juveniles that are place in our Youth Center are temporarily detained pending disposition of court programs, or often awaiting transfer to another facility or placement that cannot be served in an open setting. The Youth Center is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 365 days per year.
Daily recreation, daily group counseling, individual counseling as needed, and a year-round fully accredited school program taught by Master level teaching instructors. Our programming now includes Rational Behavior Training (RBT) for the youth we serve. RBT is a Cognitive Behavioral program with a focus on making youth aware of their thoughts and actions. The implementation of RBT into the facility has resulted in many positive gains and overall success. In fact, our Youth Center planning team was awarded in 2007 with a Washtenaw County Government Service and Enhancement award for the success in implementing Rational Behavior Training (RBT) into our programming.
